Delete your account
Last updated 21 July 2026
You can delete your Hemp'in account yourself, at any time, without asking us and without installing anything. This page explains how, exactly what is erased, and what is kept.
How to request it
- Sign in and go to Settings ▸ Account & security, then choose Delete my account. It takes effect immediately.
- Cannot sign in? Email support@hempin.org from the address on the account and we will action it for you.
What happens, and when
- Immediately — your account is deactivated and stops being visible to anyone else on the platform.
- For 30 days — nothing is erased. You can undo the request from the same settings page, and everything comes back.
- After 30 days — erasure runs automatically and is irreversible.
What is erased
- Your identity — email address, name, company, job title, headline, bio, photo, city and country.
- Every contact detail — phone, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, GitHub, website, Instagram, X, Telegram, WeChat and LINE.
- Your sign-in — the password and any linked social logins are destroyed, and the email address is released so it can be used again.
- Your private activity — settings, preferences, onboarding progress, reading history and email-verification records.
- Email — you are removed from every mailing list.
What is kept, and why
Two things survive, and we would rather say so here than have you discover it later.
- Messages and discussion posts stay, shown as “Deleted user”. They are not only yours: the other people in a conversation have their own copy, and erasing your side would silently rewrite theirs. Nothing in them identifies you any more.
- Companies you managed are not deleted — they become unclaimed. A company page is a record about a business, not about you, and other people rely on it. Your link to it is removed, and a colleague can claim it again.
Contributions you made to the public knowledge graph — sourced facts, Atlas entries, encyclopedia edits — remain part of it, because other records cite them. They are no longer attributed to you by name.
Your rights
Deleting your account is one of several rights you hold under the GDPR, alongside access, correction, export and objection. The Privacy Policy covers all of them and tells you how to reach us. If something here is unclear, ask before you delete — after 30 days we cannot undo it.
