Extraction pulls cannabinoids out of hemp biomass using solvents (ethanol, CO2) or mechanical means, yielding crude oil that is refined into isolate, distillate, or full-spectrum products. Because extraction concentrates THC, it is the step where the extract threshold bites and where an extraction licence is often required.
